Volumetric measures of activity and / or specific activity of special-purpose radionuclides (OMASN) are used for calibration, verification and control of the metrological characteristics of gamma-, beta-spectrometers and gamma-, beta-radiometers during their testing, including for type approval purposes, as well as for the assessment and control of errors in the certification of methods for measuring the activity of radionuclides, for quality control of measurements during the accreditation of laboratories and during the inspection control of their activities.
ОМАСН are measuring instruments and are closed radionuclide sources of gamma- and beta-radiation, certified as exemplary 1st (2nd) category or working measures of activity and / or specific activity of radionuclides in accordance with the state calibration scheme for activity measuring instruments radionuclides, flux and flux density of alpha-, beta-particles and photons of radionuclide sources in accordance with GOST 8.033-96.
OMASN is a standard metal, glass or plastic container filled with prepared dry radioactive material. Containers for OMASN are standardized in terms of volume and shape: Marinelli Beakers with a volume of 0.5 and 1.0 L, cylindrical vessels with a volume of 0.005 to 1.0 L, Petri dishes with a diameter of 40 to 100 mm, weighing bottles, polyethylene bottles and others (at the request of the customer). Standard solutions of radionuclides, state standard samples (GSO) of uranium, thorium and potassium chloride KCl, equilibrium salts and oxides of thorium should be used as the radioactive base of the material with which OMASN containers are filled.
