RITVERC JSC02/10/2026
On September 25, 2026, a two-week comparative measurement program in radiation control (RC CM) concluded at RITVERC site, bringing together professionals from across the industry. This was the company's debut event. The goal of the program was to exchange practical experience and knowledge in radiation safety, demonstrate the qualifications of radiation monitoring laboratory specialists, and test their skills, methods, and equipment tryout in practical tasks.
The results will be summarized and presented at the 18th International Conference «Problems of Applied Spectrometry and Radiometry» (October 12–16, 2026) in Moscow, but it can already be said for certain, that the RC CM was a success.
The event was attended by approximately 100 participants representing 60 leading organizations using sources of ionizing radiation (SIR) in their work. The RC CM program was intensive, testing both practical skills in using dosimetry equipment and the accuracy of analytical work.
Two disciplines were announced:
• Testing skills in searching for and locating radiation sources – room radiation monitoring. Here, participants were required to locate several hidden locations of radiation sources in a minimum time limit of 10 minutes. This discipline simulated real-world conditions, where the speed and accuracy of the participant's actions directly impacted on radiation safety at facilities.
• Control of measurement accuracy. In this discipline, participants measured the ambient dose equivalent rate (ADER) from the source at fixed distances of 0.1 meter and of 1.0 meter from the radiation source. Strict adherence to methodological guidelines, minimizing instrumental errors, and ideal geometry of the measurement object played a key role.
The results will be processed over the next two weeks under expert supervision and support from the D.I. Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology (St. Petersburg).
We thank all the participants who have found time, zest, and professional commitment to come to us for the RC CM 2026. We also extend our special thanks to D.V. Efremov Institute of Electrophysical Apparatus and personally to Mr. Vladislav Danilyuk, acting head of the RSS, for his informational support and assistance in organizing and hosting the event.
We are confident that the foundation laid during these days for the professional exchange of experience at the RC CM will serve the further development of our industry. For those who were unable to attend this year for whatever reason, we look forward to seeing you in the autumn of 2027.
